I first started writing songs and performing them publically when I was a senior in high school back in 1975. Since then, at one time or another, it's been a career ambition, a serious hobby, a form of therapy, just plain fun, or some combination of these things. Now it's something I do mainly for pleasure, self-expression and to help supplement my income as a T'ai-Chi teacher. During the period between 1987 and 1996 I did a lot of performing and recording in Seattle, mostly with my friend and musical partner Victor Cummings. Below are some albums from that period as well as many newer ones.
You can buy my CD's by clicking the "Purchase" links below ($12.00 each, shipping and handling included), or you can download .mp3's of any or all of my songs on a DONATION BASIS.
I've decided to return to my folk roots and make all of my music as freely available as possible and see what comes freely back. Just click on "Play or Download Songs" for any of the albums below and follow the instructions. You'll be able to listen to, or download, as many songs as you want. It's simple. Donate whatever you feel the music is worth to you or whatever you can afford. NO DONATION IS TOO SMALL (or too big!). Donate now. Donate later. Donate anytime. Just click on the "DIGITAL TIP JAR" below. You can scroll down this page and look at each album as you go, or click here for a simpler and easier to use album menu. All or most of my albums are also available at CD Baby and iTunes.
If you like what you hear, take as much as you want and donate what you can. Sharing with your friends is fine by me, just encourage them to visit my site and make a donation if they like the music. I'm more interested in finding an audience than in making a fortune. These are simple recordings but they still cost plenty to make. I really appreciate your support and encouragement and every little bit helps.
Send me an email letting me know you enjoy what I'm doing! Honestly, it makes a difference! If you are interested in CD copies of any of my older albums not listed below, please email me at mail@geneburnett.com.

Brand New World: - This
is my first album of 2010. I consider my albums more "song
collections" than traditional "albums". I assume people will
find the songs they like best and lose the rest, so I include as many songs as
will fit on a CD. As usual, they are simple guitar and vocal recordings. Even
though my albums are relatively inexpensive to make, they rarely if ever break
even. I do this for love. Most of the money I make at music goes back into
making more, so any and all tips and sales are much appreciated!

Terms of Surrender ~ Part One - From the end of 2006 and well into 2007, I experienced a major burst of songwriting inspiration. Over 20 songs in less than a year. I said this about Plan B but it's true again:
These are some of my favorite and in my opinion, strongest songs.
There were too many to fit on one CD, so I've split the project
into two. Part One is more upbeat and topical. Part Two is
more relaxed and introspective. All of the songs feature
more poetic license, metaphor, and imagination than my past
work. They're all "true," but less literally so.
Song Titles: 1. Come Down Here 2. Gravity's Bitch* 3. Save Your Breath 4. You Got Me All Right
5. Ten Good Days 6. Listen to Me 7. Don't Fake It 8. Waking Up 9. The Top of the World 10. If There Was a Wall

It remains one of my all-time favorite recordings and contains some of my favorite songs, many of which I still sing today.
